====== Surfski & Downwind Video Collections ====== . {{page>movies_cached:dwwashington&nofooter&noeditbtn}} . ---- ===== Watching Downwind Videos ===== Every video author/paddler is very familiar with how action video cameras (GoPro, etc.) make waves look significantly smaller than what they experience in their surfskis, outrigger canoes… But it should also be mentioned that viewing screens have an effect too. Obviously there is a limit on video resolution based on the published video file and the viewing website's (youtube, vimeo…) compression practices. But we notice some significant differences in shading, contrast and ease of viewing depth perception depending on the quality and size of the screen that we view videos on. You may want to experiment with how you view the videos you find most entertaining to determine which of your viewing screen options delivers the most vivid video renditions of your favorites? You might also experiment with different screen settings (if easy to modify) to test their effects on viewing quality. Some browsers also seem to have a flickering problem with using GPUs, but you may be able to eliminate such flickering by turning off graphics or hardware acceleration in your browser settings. ==== Embedded Videos (our framed videos) ==== The videos on the video collection pages (like the one at the top of this page) are shown in embedded frames. If you are having problems viewing these embedded videos, often this will be due to security settings for your browser or due to a browser security extension such as BitDefender.
