Surfskis and Outrigger Canoes can be damaged by straps that are excessively tightened. Some kind of soft guard under cam strap buckles is very helpful. +Be aware of what happens to straps when the get wet. They stretch. Then they will in turn tighten up again when they dry. Materials differ in this regard. Nylon generally absorbs a lot of water and may stretch more than polyester which absorbs more water than polypropylene. If you re-tighten your straps after they get wet, make sure you do not leave them to dry on fragile boats like surfskis because drying straps will tighten up as they dry and can damage your boats. \\
