Just did a long paddle around the bay, and on the NW portion where the Nooksack river flows in there is a large sheet of ice forming (about a mile west of The Harbor). I hit one small broken patch and just as I was thinking "Ha! I think this is ice?!" it started to get too thick to paddle through, and after a couple hundred feet came to a sudden stop in 2" thick ice. I clawed my way backwards (kinda tricky to do in with a big surf rudder on) and paddled the perimeter southwest for about a mile. It's quite a sight, worth a look but maybe not a skate. Just did a long paddle around the bay, and on the NW portion where the Nooksack river flows in there is a large sheet of ice forming (about a mile west of The Harbor).
