| - | Big ebb running. Steady SW breeze. Might be good. If wind stays like this the rebound near the wall is extra spicy. Waves in the mirror can be larger than they appear because the fetch is across the bay from Eliza. Only problem is that some of your favorite old barnacles pretended they were much younger last night at Peter's Padden Pain Party. But, so there. like me dear brother says, "any day above ground is a good day." or "don't knock it if you can't try it." or you can pick any number of his other malapropalistic, crusty, old, wry observations. rd | + | Big ebb running. | - | I put on my full wetsuit today. Had to get help from Rapid Robert. Hope nobody got that on video. Aint pretty when an old guy wiggles around that way. Even worse getting the dang thing off. Mark had to undo some thingies on it. But I have to say, it was fantastic to paddle in. Really wet rides today and going upwind we all got face-slapped plenty. With me full suit on I felt invincible. | + | I put on my full wetsuit today. Had to get help from Rapid Robert. Hope nobody got that on video. Aint pretty when an old guy wiggles around that way. But—if we had waited till now, still great wind ,flood tide, just a little more SE which makes for easier up wind. Steve and Simon are heading out now, be good to compare reports. | ||

I can, at times, handle the banter back and forth, though at times it seems like some of y’all share things rather insignificant to this group like “well, I had a loose, watery stool today, but I’m still going paddling…”. | + | Look, I can sometimes handle all the joy y’all experience without me, which are shared on this email distribution list. | - | Matt.....I'm sorry that you didn't like my Haiku. It was meant as a joke and was never considered serious poetry. It was a great day to be on the bay and my post was meant in jest. As for having more time to paddle than you, I seriously doubt that you know me. I work more than full time in a busy hospital and I am frequently on call after hours. Besides this, I also teach physics one full day a week. My free time is scarce and I often don't get home until after 11 pm at night. Out of the 495 members on this site, one said they my Haiku wasn't really Haiku (and he is also a teacher) and one was offended. I'm also one of the moderators for this site, and the one thing we frown upon is when a member slams another member. We've been known to DC memberships when someone gets snippy without cause. WP began with a group of 15 local paddlers that wanted to stay connected. I am one of those 15.\\ | + | Matt…..I'm sorry that you didn't like my Haiku. | - | In truth, I’d love to be able to do what y’all do. But I’m very much a beginner, following my daughter as she paddles along, and I have very little time to learn this very challenging sport. I went out on the bay in December this year and realized how close I am to death whenever I try this, which both fascinates and terrifies me, but gives me a tremendous amount of respect for all the folks who are able to do it already. | + | In truth, I’d love to be able to do what y’all do.
