-Just got back in after an abbreviated paddle. Called it a day after a couple of laps where  the paddle and I repeatedly almost departed ways while surfing. Haven't figured out a way to see  approaching catspaws and seaswirls before they pounce, maybe something like a wearable backup camera. Other than that, the conditions were as expected. Upon beaching, it was fortuitous that Colin showed up and helped schlep the boat onto the rack, tutherwise, I still may be standing in the bay.\\+Just got back in after an abbreviated paddle.  "Medium hefty" today. Good fun. We launched from Wildcat at 10am and paddled to the harbor. Gusting mid 40's maybe. Lots of water coming out of the river made for some slow going near the harbor.\\ "Medium hefty" today. Good fun. We launched from Wildcat at 10am and paddled to the harbor. Gusting mid 40's maybe.  We wound up going non-hefty and went to Lake Whatcom for our first downwinder there. The wind on the lake seemed mostly E or ESE. We didn't get much wind for about 2 miles starting at the South Boat Launch, picked up some wind from the SE branch of the lake, then got decent wind and waves after the island. Some gusts along the way, but only the last 1/2 mile or so getting into Bloedel-Donovan had steady high wind. One of the easier 9 mile paddles that Denise and I have done. Got on the water a bit late - 3pm but didn't have to push to get to the take out before it got very dark. We wound up going non-hefty and went to Lake Whatcom for our first downwinder there.
