-Just saw a wind spike at 40.  Fast, big ebb running until about 1:00pm.  Wind looks dead southerly so there's a flat spot at MP for launch.  Don't need to go very far out for the bigs.  Wish I could go.  Since I can't I'm going to try to scare all-you-all with the boogeyman wind.  whoooo-eeeeiih!

 Yep! Windy and fun out there. But there were other adventures. Howard and I were out with new guy Jonny. It was his third time in his new Bluefin and his second time in wind, so we were trying to keep it mellow out of the Boating Center. Lots of adventure was had in the big wind and Jonny put his considerable swimming skills to use far less today than yesterday. However, just as we were wrestling the boats onto the cars, an old guy runs up to us asking for help. He had let go of the rope on his 20' aluminum Hewescraft while putting it in the water and it was quickly heading to sea. On its way to Squalicum harbor, it hung for a few seconds on the last log in the water of the boat ramp, Howard starting to rig up for some sort of desperate surfski effort, but Jonny jumped in and got to the rope just as the boat slipped off the log. Then came the tricky part. He swam the 2000 lb boat back up into the wind. Good fun!

+I had perma-grin the whole run. The east component made for the usual multi-directional peaky stuff outside Chuckanut Bay. But waves were so steep there you could do one stroke drop-Ins.

+I went pretty far outside and the gusts really wanted to relieve me of my paddle a few times. We all ran weedless rudders which always adds a little challenge. Paul rocked the Vega Flex like a boss.

 I ended up jumping into a downwind pod with Kim R., Julie V., Paul R. (all on OC-1s) and Denise W. We put in around 10 from Wildcat. All that east, technical, peaky stuff that others have mentioned - yep, plenty of that. Made it fast and fun to connect waves heading left, but if we'd kept doing that, we'd have ended up at Gooseberry Pt. A little tougher to head right, but still some big rides. As we neared the buoy, I saw Simon out doing laps just in front of and outside me. But as I dropped into the biggest wave of the day, he and the horizon disappeared behind the fast-moving wall of water in front of me. I stayed and did a couple more laps at MP and had some of the fastest connections of the day. I'll be curious to see Denise's GoPro video from today!
