-When I posted the story of my ordeal on Whatcom Paddlers I braced myself for criticism. ​ I was willing to take the heat if it meant someone might glean a tip or two that would make them safer on the water. Then Pacific Multisports approached me and asked if they could publish the story to a wider audience. I was hesitant but used the same reasoning to say yes. I have received a lot of feedback online and in person. Instead of being shamed like those paddlers in Minnesota that lost a dear friend, I have heard many kind words for sharing my story, and more importantly,​ folks are taking action to improve their safety.
