What a thoughtful piece on how surfskiers that get in trouble on the water are shamed.
When I posted the story of my ordeal on Whatcom Paddlers I braced myself for criticism. I was willing to take the heat if it meant someone might glean a tip or two that would make them safer on the water. Then Pacific Multisports approached me and asked if they could publish the story to a wider audience. I was hesitant but used the same reasoning to say yes. I have received a lot of feedback online and in person. Instead of being shamed like those paddlers in Minnesota that lost a dear friend, I have heard many kind words for sharing my story, and more importantly, folks are taking action to improve their safety. I have also received criticism, but it has been constructive and well-intentioned, nothing like the shaming in the article Paul shared.
Once again, I am impressed by how special this community is and how lucky we are to be a part of it. A lot of the world doesn't function as we do.
