Eliza Is. to Portage Bay

Put in at the Harbor at 7 this AM and paddled up to Wildcat Cove in 1’ chop before the wind came up. Ran into fellow early bird Josh at MP. Wind turned on just enough on the for a nice downwind back. I noticed the wind looked better near Eliza so I surfed that direction and was surprised how fun the waves were over there. Long, wide and glassy… Like groomed ski runs. There must be a tidal feature over there that sets them up like that between Eliza and Portage Bay, because I’ve run into those waves before in that exact spot. Had a couple of rides with my paddle on my lap that went for almost a minute. About 2 miles out from the Harbor a CG boat roared up next to me and I had a nice chat with them as they surfed next to me for a KM. Those boats are super cool. The guys are great too, asked if I had a whistle and radio (yes and yes). Thumbs up!
