Marker Recommendation

Dan Mayhew

Does anyone have a recommendation for a waterproof marker to write on a paddle blade or shaft?

After leaving my paddle at Boedel (and luckily recovering it) l want to get my phone number on it in case I get distracted after a paddle or it floats away during a downwinder.

Metallic Sharpie has stayed on mine for years. My other trick is to set the paddle on my hood when I set it down.

I’m new to the group and this is my first email! But yeah, I agree with Michael. Been using metallic sharpies on all my SUP gear for a while. It definitely lasts!

A “paint pen” is my marker of choice, Hardware sales have them in various colors- I use white or yellow-. I have found that “felt tip” marker ink has a tendency to fade out if exposed to the sun for long periods.

I am going to try the metallic Sharpie.

I have a good routine for remembering my gear, but I varied it once in four years and poof, my paddle was missing.

Writing my number on the paddle will be my $3.17 insurance policy.

Thanks for the tips!

Dan,
A few of us use a Label Maker. It works well and you can label everything, paddle boat radio, storage bins.Although not as artistic.
If you're going to use markers or paint pens, buy several colors and go for it.

White —metal —liquid marking paint pen. You could mark your car also so you don’t forget or loose it also.
