Northern Spain Coastal Autonomous Communities/Provinces
We don't know the exact local conditions that lead to such long, surfable waves in each location where they occur (see Galicia, Spain for some specifics - note that Javier Paz remarks that the best waves (up to 1.5 km rides) at O Pedrido occur with southerly winds and offshore waves) but we have noticed a number of these videos. Do these coastal openings for rivers tend to filter the swell into more orderly waves, possibly magnified by shallow depth (somewhat like Bundeena)? If you surf any of these northern Spain locations, can you give us more information (email us ) about when good surfing conditions occur? There also seem to be plenty of good surfing beaches on the north side of Spain, but these river mouth inlets seem to provide (at least occasionally) exceptionally long lasting, non-collapsing waves which may offer a lot of wave surfing fun along with somewhat less danger to equipment and self than one often finds surfing shorebreaks.
