Just fantastic. When Clint Robinson talked to me about international sprint, he tried to explain how well developed Eastern Europe programs were and how hard Western Country's athletes have to work. Not just physically, but in all the personal initiative work. We have been blessed with extraordinary coaches and volunteers. I'm humbled to see the parents and supporters working events and working all the workouts. On top of this put the ingenuity and drive of our local athletes. What a blast to see these stories unfold.

Whatcom Paddlers,

As I sit in the Chicago airport awaiting my flight to Europe for the U23 World Championships I wanted to take a moment to reflect and thank our community and coaches. I would not be where I am today or with the success I have found without the help and support of everyone in our community.

For those who have not been up to date with my racing I recently competed at both the ICF Super Cup and US Sprint National Championships. The ICF Super Cup is an invitational showcase event that featured the vast majority of Tokyo 2020 Olympic medalists as well as additional finalists (The only reason I achieved a spot was due to the US being the host nation and COVID travel restrictions blocking a portion of the athletes from attending). In this event I competed in the ~1000m Portage (https://www.instagram.com/tv/CS2FnnwFY_-/?utm_medium=copy_link) event and the 350m Sprint (https://youtu.be/PvDx7mERYAQ @ 44:09) which I placed 4th and 7th respectively. Directly after the end of the ICF Super Cup I began competition at the US National Championships. I competed in the Senior or Open division of Men’s K1 in the 5000m, 1000m, 500m, and 200m. In each of these events I claimed the national title.

I would not be able to achieve this without the support form everyone and coaches.

Thank you everyone for supporting Steve Scoggins and Bellingham Canoe Kayak Sprint Team.

Thank you to those who have donated to my travel funds in the past.

Thank you to Peter Marcus for the weekly community intervals.

Thank you to our various Wednesday Night starters.

Thank you to Paul Clement and Kevin Olney for pushing me through grueling distance workouts.

Thank you to Ana Swetish and Wilson Reavley for helping me through the early morning workouts.

Thank you to Coach Steve Scoggins for providing me with workouts.

And finally thank you to my parents for their continuous support.

My sights are now set on the U23 World Championships in Portugal (Sept 3-6) where I will compete in the MK1 1000m. I will send information regarding race times, results, and live streaming when it is available to me.

And one more thank you for good measure.
