It was great to see a good Bellingham contingent at the race today. Larry, Kim and myself had an exciting finish crossing the line at “approximately the same time”. Our results were recorded as 1:22:18 for all three with the listed order as Bussinger, Cantrell and Bruce - reverse order of good looks - that's the way we do it north of the border if there's a tie.

See you in the Gorge.

Yoiks. The thermals were a little tardy, but there were some good rides. I have had luck in this race by going out wide to avoid the outflowing fresh water river currents. This year I make beeg mistake. I was wide at the start and could see all the big dogs. I was thinking, “I got this. This will be sweet.” Until I found myself way wide with everyone blowing past me in close to the right. Game over baby.

I could see some pretty wide open duels going on. I don't think I've ever seen a three-way tie like this before. That water is so Dang cold. It's like a blended margarita w/o the sugar or alchohol. They were clever this year: cold-cuts and other snacks right there at the finish line, no waiting around.

We had nine that I know of representin' from B'ham. It was fun to see the Canadian contingient. Everybody was friendly. There was a major pageant of some kind in town and the drive in was stop n go traffic for a while.

I'm pooped. going to bed.

Yeah the far left gambit was painful. I'm curious about how much extra distance it was far left vs. tight right, but didn't have my gps on board. Any data from the lefties and righties on this?

My left side mileage was 10.1 I think. It felt like about 34.5 kilometers. I had some good rides (quit paddling several times) max speed at 9.5 mph - note, my gps shows slower max than some of you big dogs. Good thing it doesn't show race IQ.

What say you LB? others?

An amazing finish, shoulder to shoulder to shoulder. And I’m OK with the order of the listing. Ugly but fast (er).
