I reluctantly gave Michael Lampi his boat back. Squeezed one last run out of it doing Lk Sammamish race this morning. I had forgotten that the actual boat launch ramp is located seperately from the beach that the race is staged from. It turned out good, the short course has a later start time.
The lake was choppy. There was a breeze from the North and high speed boat traffic. I hung in the back of the pack with a couple of new racers. We were out in the middle when some of the long course top dogs went past. They were flying on the chop.
After race had good feed. Lots of pastries and snacks as well as some healthy stuff like bannanas and oranges. I missed a lot of the post race by misplacing my fanny-pack with car keys etc. Of course I didn't know I had goofed until I had finished the race, paddled over to the boat launch and looked for keys. (Freak out, paddle back to beach, get help from people, yadda yadda … )
Fun race, good turn out (except from B'hampsters). Someone should tell Peter Turcan that rough water means you're supposed to be tippy in a K-1.
I'm tired now.
