Nice job Peter, pulling the relay off today. Good course, good soup, and nice set up. The overall win by Allan, Jill, Big Mike, and an older Senior they pulled around, was much deserved. Seemed like quite a lot of funds raised for the food bank. Turned out to be a fun time, I think everyone enjoyed it. Not sure about tomorrow yet, possible 50mph gusts at 11:00am is a little steep. We'll see what NOAA puts out tomorrow am early.

Great race Peter. Always one of my favorite races despite the weather.I just happened to notice an oddity about the winning team; two of their three boats were Huki S1-XL's. In yo' face DJ.

The third boat was also a Huki OC-2.
Paddle for Food UPDATE!!

Well…..Glad we are not doing it today!!
THANKS to all paddlers that participated yesterday in the mini-storm infested waters of Lake Padden. For some unknown reason I forgot to track placement of teams other then First place…maybe you could all e-mail me where you placed and I can record it for the history….
Bellingham Herald was nice enough (with our help) to get a little blirb in today's Sport Section with a little picture in the back! The reporter was having such a good time watching you all that he stayed through the entire race and break down at the end…
Hats off to the SWIMMERS…don't think we have had a race yet without some SWIMMERS…..rumor has it a certain BLUE (did I say that out loud?) OC-2 took a dip at the Lily Pad end and a certain up and coming paddler decided to “show off” right in front of the home crowd! (Again, Thank You to the Blue OC-2 for picking up the wind blown carnage). One “YOUNG” paddler, even got caught up in the moment of racing and almost missed one of the turns, except the ROWDY shore side crowd wouldn't let him…..Hats off to Dan B. for letting “you know who” finish off the last lap (Thanks Gabe). Paddler duress was exhibited by one OC-1 paddler who had his laps turned into, “What I'm going” as his team had, not once, but twice, complications with a Bent Rudder and a Electrolyte depletion (left over from the night before….mmmmm) The winning team was all HUKI boats, Epic paddles and Fenn Shirts?…I'm sure this will have far reaching effects after a world class event like this….The expressions of paddlers rounding the downwind buoy and heading square into the “concrete wall” of wind and some of the language being uttered (making a sailor's mother embarrassed..) was priceless, also watching a certain FSK have a tough time rounding in one of the bigger puffs, seeing that we were possibly going to assist him to turn, then him yelling at us “I got it, I got it!” was Great.
Racers….Awesome and really fun to watch you all from the beach….it didn't matter if your team was first or eleventh, you were still all pushing it to the bell and the finish…REALLY COOL!! Even with the tough upwind slog, all teams finished relatively close, THANK YOU Larry G. and Reviers D. for formulating the teams, Great Job!
MONEY and FOOD: Donations were great…still have a couple of people that were going to drop off a “check.” This should break us over the 3000.00 Dollar level, how cool is that!! My car is plugged full of Non-perishable food which I will drop off tomorrow or Tuesday, but looks like years past and about 4 to 5 hundred pounds!!! All donations are important, so THANK YOU!! (Thanks to those that didn't race but still came by to donate and watch for a bit…)
Sponsors: Thank you to..Lorna Libert (awesome painting) Lucky EDOH for winning the drawing on that one!! Mt baker SKI Area (think snow), Boundary Bay Brewery, Tony's coffee, RUDY's Pizza (Yummmmm..), Haggen's Fairhaven Market, and Larry G. and Kathy for soups and Corn bread, Debbie A. and Julie V. and Reviers for desserts (sorry if I missed anyone!) and PAUL CLEMENT PADDLING Designs.
Volunteers: Tents and chairs and generator and tables and heaters….Kim C., Joan and Thom, Pete W., Lance R. and all who helped Break Down at the End!!
Sorry if I missed anyone……See you NEXT YEAR!!
Cheers, Peter (now go surf……)

Hi All,
Quick Note….
Thanks Dale M for taking photo's….
Not quite 400 lbs of Food and 3001.00 Dollars!!!
FOR every dollar we donate, it translates into 10 lbs of food, so we basically donated 30,000 lbs, yes, I said, 30,000 lbs of food the Food Bank can purchase!!
AWESOME…..THANKS TO EVERYONE!! Peter
