Sound Rowers: Lake Samish 2018

Happy Saturday

I talked with Alan Lipp. He's not sure if he's going OC, ski, prone, Oc4, Oc2, or hydrofoil skates. I'm giving him another week to decide. For the rest of you, I'd really like to see your name on the registration. I'd like to start ordering the stuff I need to make you stoked to be there. We will need some Canadians to register too in order to make it an official world championship race. Please join in the fun. Remember, entries will be capped at 1000, so best to save your spot tonight.

Only 972 spots left for the Salmon Row. You know that if you're in town, you HAVE to go. You HAVE to race. It's a community event. Kelowna is coming again. That's always encouraging news. Takes the pressure off of trying to win. I'll be ordering shirts really soon. If you want to guarantee size instead of me guessing that Reivers wants a XXL because he's so muscular, then register soon. Like, maybe tonight.
I really like all of you.

Last call out. Sign it up tonight! Salmon Row 2018!

Ok, it's time. You probably won't get a shirt. But you might. What do you assuredly get? Respect. Lunch. An awesome race experience. Community involvement.

Injured? I guess that's an excuse…..then again, I've seen one guy who's shoulder actually bleeds, and he still races.

There's several standard community racers that aren't signed up yet. A race without Peter isn't a race. Hilburn might come up with an excuse, but it's not acceptable. I just saw him fit as a fiddle on the bay. Even Brownlie is signed up. Goolsby? Where's Goolsby? Seems like you and Shawn oughtta make a race appearance. If your Fenn Double has too much dust on it to lift, I'll find you one to race. Speaking of doubles. There are 7 HPKs signed up. Also 7 marathon canoes. That's a real race.

Donny K is in Italy, so he's excused, DJ has to work, and rumor had it that Barton will be at a birthday party….I'm hoping that party gets cancelled because the Bellingham JR K4 is openly challenging him. Amazing that a dude in his fifties is getting challenged by a youthful and fast K4. Just think about that for a second……. anyways. Maybe Gabe Newton will do a surprise showing in his place. On to others around here….Howard? Kiseau? Rob Rogers(I know you have a nice surfski), I see absolutely zero people who drive Exxel Pacific trucks on the list. You know who you are. Dan and his EVO2? There's s lady I just saw today after purchasing her new Zen, whoever you are, you should race. In fact, thinking this through, Carolyn Watson hasn't raced much this year, so she should probably race too.

As far as Canadian call outs go, Remmler?, Putnam? Wes Hammer? Ben Muench? Wonham? Come on Canada, if Redman and crew are willing to drive from Kelowna, seems like you can get here from West Van without too much trouble. Plus, we like you, even you, Warren Bruce.

PS. There aren't any OC-6s signed up. It'd be nice to have one or five of those.

Peter is racing in my OC-4, assuming he will be recovered from his bailing duties and gnarly experience in the Pailolo Channel…….Bailing? you may scoff, but believe me, bailing is much more tiring than paddling! Luckily my OC-4 has venturi drains, and Samish probably won't have a 12 foot groundswell and raging trade winds, so we should be OK.
