I bet if you ask every paddler where the finish line is for the
Wednesday nite race, you will get a different answer each time. Where
is the finish line exactly?

Hi Larry,
My answer is…..the small metal flag pole “thingy” at the end finsh leg…..right by that small podium “thingy”…your time stops when your bow or your body pass the pole…..Defn 1 Peter

Flag pole thingy? Podium? Never even seen them! No wonder Peters
times are so good!
The real finish line is where the three big trees on the bank line up
in a straight line. Def. 3

At the risk of sounding offensive, Larry, you need glasses!! The pole
that Peter is referring to is nearly in front of the three trees that
you are referring to, and is also the reference point that makes up the
start/finish line for the Lake Whatcom Classic. For the last thirteen
years that I have done this course, it has always been the finish line
for me, as well as anyone that I have shown the course to. Incidently,
by the time I look up when my bow crosses the “pole” line, the three
trees line up within a second afterwards.
