old slow fat weak & delusional

It must have been the sunshine. I tried to keep up with the alpha dogs down to the first turn last night. the wake ride was amazing, but very expensive. (I must have burnt at least one Guinness Stout in the first five minutes.) The next couple of weird things were; seeing Duncan keep up with these crazies w/o benefit of a wake, and seeing Deano 'forsake the wake' and get into clear water.

But I struggled on heroically to find Shawn right there ahead of me. I could hear heavy breathing from MG, Marc, Jeff Hedge & Rick right behind. It was about here where Joost casually wafted by. I'm not sure where he found the oxygen. I was sucking every molecule of it within a 10ft radius. Good thing there aren't too many bugs out yet.

About half way around I finally hooked onto Shawn's wake (by a thread). It was exhausting to hold on. I gradually lost the simple dignity that urged me to take my turn pulling. In fact, it was looking like I might not be able to rest enough to snatch the finish from him. Luckily a guy in front of us dumped and I could go over and pretend to help.

I don't recall passing Duncan, obviously I'd better send some of my extra cases of Guinness Stout over to his house. (These are on special sale at Costco you guys! They are so tasty and nice, you should buy lots.)

The good news is that the mid-pack pecking order is highly unstable. We are in for a summer of strain & gain, boys 'n girls. Very exitin'.
