Rain.
More fresh water than salt water, it rained lots. But Jerico is a great venue: lots of indoor space, nice bathrooms, warm showers even.

Very flat day. We did the bell-can route out past Spanish Flats and back. Nice current push on the way out with light breeze helping. Clocking along around 8mph most of the way out. I stuck to Peter M and Bob P like eelgrass on a surfing rudder. As they worked off each other I would slime into the sweet spot as best I could. Peter brought the S1-R so Bob and I were able to stay in contact. Bob challenged a few times, but could not close Peter out. At the turn they both busted a move, but Peter left Bob a way to climb back on. They gapped me after that. Shane M. and OC-2 AllanL/EricG diced most of the race. The OC-2 messed up and got too shallow in Spanish Banks (as many a racer has done - I've seen guys get out and walk). They must have been looking for back eddy. But, the current was helping us back even out from shore. A little weird since we had just been getting a push the other way just a few minutes before.

Not a huge turnout, but great fun. Good crowd, good food (bacon & chicken soup? - yeah, baby). lots of give-aways (nothing fancy). Dennis M, Mike H., Mike Lee, were in there pulling water with the rest of us.

I thought I had the travel wired using my Nexus Pass, pre-pay toll on Port Mann and truck crossing. But I messed up getting back onto Hwy 1 after the race, then got pulled for an audit at the border crossing. Oh well.
